STL area youth outdoors efforts get $50,000 boost

The Monsanto Fund recently provided a $50,000 grant to be used towards two prominent Ducks Unlimited youth programs, Puddler magazine and Wetlands for Kids Day in St. Charles, MO. The Monsanto Fund is the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company.

Wetlands for Kid’s Day is an annual event held at the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area. The event, hosted by DU and Missouri Department of Conservation, allows children to explore various aspects of nature. In previous years children were given the opportunity to explore beaver dams, create wetland art and even encounter live birds of prey. All children attending receive a free DU Greenwing membership, which includes a one-year subscription to Puddler magazine, courtesy of the Monsanto Fund.

Puddler magazine is the official publication of DU’s youth members known as Greenwings. Published quarterly, Puddler’s mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire young readers about conserving wetlands, waterfowl and other wildlife. Puddler’s content also includes age-specific inserts underwritten by the Monsanto Fund for readers in the early elementary and preschool age groups.
