If you happen to live elsewhere than Van Buren, Fremont, Grandin or thereabouts, you may not realize that 2009 is the sesquicentennial of the organization of Carter County. The good folks over there have a full year’s schedule of events to help remember the past and plan for the future.

Upcoming, but too late to make print are the Ham Shoot being held April 4th at 10 a.m. in Fremont Park, Fremont. More info can be had at 573-718-4719, but hey, it’s a ham shoot — Traveler readers know the drill on that one.

On April 10 and 11, in Grandin, there will be a Trades and Crafts Expo at City Hall. No times given on that one, so call 573-593-4237 to find out when it starts.
